Behind the scenes: THE CROCS CURSE 🐊 So... in June time I bought some lovely platform crocs because I thought they were cute and I wanteD to be cosy as I was going to be wearing them to travel around Australia and Korea (she's an explorer)...WELL fast forward to December and I think I was maybe cursed by a witch in a past life because I cant take them off. I literally cannot remove them. This isnt an AD but hey crocs if ur reading I wouldnt mind a sponsor :P .. they're just so dang comfortable. Anyways, I took my hiking boots with me for this walk as its pretty steep and mucky, but the witches curse is too strong. I wore my PLATFORM CROCS instead. So, I was fighting for my life filming this. You cant really tell because I'm a pro, but trust me, I was slipping, tripping, and stressing. My dog was looking at me like bish (das my cookie das my juice). Plus my socks were soaking after because it was raining. OOPS!!!!! Never again.. 📜 The deep magic of Yellow Water forest💧✨ Honestly, walking through the Yellow Water area with all that deep, rich moss and the mist creeping through the trees, it feels like you’ve stumbled into somewhere totally off limits, right??? It’s no accident. The whole Rostrevor area, especially here in Yellow Water is basically known as a gateway where our world meets the mythical one. In Yellow Water, you're not just walking on normal ground; you're walking on the territory of the Daoine Sídhe, which are the original Irish fairies. I'm not talking about the tiny, cute, glittery ones. I mean the powerful, ancient, sometimes scary ones who guard these deep, hidden places. They’re the reason the light feels so weird and filtered, and why sometimes you swear you hear whispers when the wind picks up. It's the veil between worlds thinning out!!!! Giants threw boulders here (seriously): You can't talk about Rostrevor without talking about the giants, specifically the big boss, Fionn mac Cumhaill (Finn McCool). Look up towards the mountain from anywhere in this forest and you’ll see the Cloughmore Stone perched way up there, like a marble someone just tossed away. Legend says Fionn actually threw that massive granite boulder all the way across Carlingford Lough from the Cooley Mountains! It’s crazy to think that something so powerful happened right here. It makes you feel tiny, but it also reminds you that the trees and the paths around the Yellow Water are literally shaded by a giant’s legacy. Another cool thing about this area is how much they respected the water and the trees. The Yellow Water stream isn't just nice for a photo; for the ancient Irish, any stream like this was considered sacred, often guarded by a local Water Spirit or Máthair Uisce (Water Mother). People would seek out these hidden places for healing or just to find a bit of peace. The powerful Oak and Yew trees along the bank? Those weren't just wood, they were seen as actual guardians, literal portals to the otherworld. So next time you're standing here listening to the sound of the stream, take a second and really feel it. That repetitive, soothing sound isn't just nature, it's the mystical pulse of the land, giving you that chill, restorative energy that the legends have talked about for thousands of years.
