Day 49: “Worship” | What is worship and why is it important?

What is worship and why is it important? ——————————————————————— DEVOTIONAL: Human beings in every time and culture have demonstrated a need and desire to worship someone more powerful than themselves. In the Bible, worship means recognizing the power and authority of God and offering praise, gifts, and obedience in response. The most important question of human existence is: Who or what do you worship? That determines your beliefs, values, and behavior. Do you give your allegiance and obedience to any "lesser gods," such as money, status, or people? The Bible teaches that only one God is truly worthy of our worship, for He alone is holy and sovereign, possessing the authority to judge all things. ——————————————————————— GOD'S RESPONSE: We adore You as the one who is over all things. Riches and honor come from You alone, for You rule over everything. Power and might are in Your hand... O our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name! ~1 Chronicles 29:12-13 You are my King and my God. You command victories for Your people. Only by Your power can we push back our enemies. ~Psalm 44:4-5 ——————————————————————— GOD'S PROMISE: Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before You, for Your righteous deeds have been revealed. ~Revelation 15:4 ——————————————————————— PERSONAL TAKEAWAY: By reading the devotional, it helped me gain a better understanding of what worship is and how it can look in all different ways Worshipping money looks like you revering those with a lot of it, living your life to obtain it, and following it wherever it goes. Worshipping women looks like you revering them as the most important thing in your life, you live to please them or obtain them, they affect a majority of your decisions and corrupts your ability to stand alone. Worshipping family looks like you do everything to please them, every decision you make is based off their opinions and desires, and essentially your life doesn’t have any meaning without their validation These were/are the things that I have put first before God COUNTLESS times and still at times. It’s only been 3 months of allowing God to officially be not just my Savior but the LORD over my life. This has been a hard but absolutely FULFILLING last three months. Worshipping God for me now looks like getting in the Word every single day, spending intentional time with God for greater intimacy, praying fervently and openly…no performances but straight thoughts, feelings, emotions…Obedience of His decrees, His commands, His laws, His instructions, His wisdom, His outline, His plans…are my number one priority… I feel Him and want to do nothing but grow in greater love and deliver it to the world. Thank you Father for saving me and being patient with me. I pray to remain in your favor until you bring me home. In Jesus name, Amen #pursuing #christ #becoming #creator #devotional
