PLURI Course Working With Language Visibility in Schools and Learning Spaces - Part 2

The PLURI course takes you on a journey through the broader landscape of language learning in education, linking policy, theory and practical classroom applications. It is designed for educators who wish to harness multilingualism with confidence and create inclusive, empowering learning spaces. The course contains three parts: the first focuses on language policy, the second on pedagogical concepts, and the third on practice. This is the second video in the third part: ‘Working with Language Visibility in Schools and Learning Spaces – Part 2: Training Linguistic Observation’, presented by Dr Olesya Chayka (Koopkultur e.V., Berlin). It builds on the first part of the series by shifting the focus from languages spoken by people to language in space. The session introduces structured, accessible activities designed to train learners and educators to observe how languages, images, placement and sounds appear, or are absent, in everyday learning environments. By developing these skills, participants will be prepared for practices such as linguistic landscaping and schoolscaping, enabling them to work more effectively, inclusively and reflectively with language visibility in schools and other educational contexts.
