The PLURI course takes you on a journey through the broader landscape of language learning in education, linking policy, theory and practical classroom applications. It is designed for educators who wish to harness multilingualism with confidence and create inclusive, empowering learning spaces. The course contains three parts: the first focuses on language policy, the second on pedagogical concepts, and the third on practice. This is the first video in the third part: ‘Working with Language Visibility in Schools and Learning Spaces – Part 1: Languages We Bring With Us', presented by Dr Olesya Chayka (Koopkultur e.V., Berlin). It introduces a low-threshold approach to language visibility by starting with the languages and ways of speaking that learners and educators bring into the room. Through a step-by-step activity and a reflection ladder, it provides practical guidance on how to work safely and thoughtfully with students' linguistic repertoires while avoiding common pitfalls such as forced disclosure or the creation of linguistic hierarchies. It lays the foundation for Part 2, which will focus on observing and working with language visibility in physical learning spaces.
