MASTERY OF CONCEPTS The making of this video has been inspired by my observation of a glaringly repetitive concepts being tested over the years in KCSE. Over the years, the concept accounts for 4- 6 marks and this is an area where I believe students can maximise their score on oral skills. I have therefore highlighted the questions that have been tested from KCSE 2019 to 2021. The examined questions include; KCSE 2019 (d) Assume that you attended a youth conference on drug abuse. Your Principal has asked you to give an oral report during assembly. How would you use your voice effectively? (6mks) ~I would be audible ~I would project my voice properly ~ I would articulate my words distinctively ~ I would employ appropriate enunciation ~ I would employ proper pronunciation ~ I would employ appropriate intonation ~I would moderate pace of delivery ~ I would pause for emphasis ~ I would control my tempo KCSE 2020 (d) You are the Chairperson of your English Study group. Explain three things that you would do to ensure that the discussions is conducted effectively. (6mks) ~Nominate the secretary to take notes and capture all the points made. ~Introduce the topic and scope of discussion to maintain focus ~Ensure proper turn taking for order in communication and to avoid disagreements ~Appreciate each person's contributions to encourage participation ~Ensure contributions are given through the chair ~ Wind up the discussion appropriately KCSE 2021 Imagine that your class is having a talk on career choices. The speaker keeps asking the students to pay attention. Give six indicators that inform the speaker that his or her listeners are not attentive ~ Fidgeting ~Dozing ~Unnecessary movement ~Holding mind discussions~ Dropping things on the floor ~Slouching on the chair~ Clapping unnecessarily ~Doodling ~Playing with fingers ~Staring blankly/daydreaming ~ Pen drumming ~Looking at the ceiling ~ Shuffling of feet ~Looking out through the window~Yawning ~ Making noise ~ Murmuring ~ Sleeping on the desks #Kcse2022#oralskills#interviews#talk#speech#oralreports#debate#groupdiscussion You may also check my video on interviews • KCSE 2022 ENGLISH PAPER ONE PREDICTION | O...
