When Anna and Mark Bouthillier decided to build a garage space and sorting facility for their oyster farm, Deluxbury Sea Farm, they were conscious of the need to respect the traditional building style of their historic and residential neighborhood. “[It was] very important to us to make sure the building was in keeping with the rest of the street, including our antique house and other antique houses on the street,” said Mark. “We wanted it to look very traditional, but what's contained within it is very untraditional.” The Bouthillier’s new facility needed to house key elements of their oyster farm – a workshop, boat shop, oyster processing facility with walk-in refrigeration, big office, big table, and an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) for visiting friends and family. Anna and Mark tapped architect Jessica Williams, a Duxbury resident and elementary school classmate of Mark’s, to design the space. Willaims utilized Marvin at 7 Tide to help the owners visualize the windows in their new facility. Marvin at 7 Tide is a hands-on brand experience center in Boston. “It was very important for us to go to Marvin at 7 Tide to visualize the size of these windows. We had blueprints, we had the dimensions, but didn't have a great idea of exactly how big these windows were going to be,” said Mark. Williams chose the Marvin Elevate collection for the project. Marvin Elevate Double Hung windows are used in the traditional, barn-style part of the building, while more modern-looking Elevate Picture windows are in the back of the ADU, shop, and garage areas. “Elevate really was the perfect product for the look that we were after,” said Williams, “keeping with what we needed to do with the antique [side], but also allowing us to have a more modern look in the back.” Read more on the Marvin blog: https://www.marvin.com/blog/deluxbury...
