Today we explore Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka with our friends from Tuk It Easy. One guide, one tuktuk and two foreigners, it's going to be a fun night! Even though the country is well known for its tea, coffee was very important back in the days for Sri Lanka's economy and contrary to popular believes, some farmers are still going some especially around the Kandy area. From there we visited a spice market where we learned a lot about Sri Lankan spices. From vanilla to pepper and REAL cinnamon, the spices of Sri Lanka are there to take your cooking to the next level. Because we like to learn about the the cities we visit around the world we did appreciate the quick visit at the old town hall of Colombo and of course the incredible visit at the Sri Ponnambala Vaneswarar Kovil Temple which is by far the most beautiful temple we have ever visited in the whole world. A visit in Colombo is never complete without going for a walk around the Pettah market. From the street food to the fruits and vegetable, this place if full of flavors, smells and energy. No matter what you need, you will most likely find it somewhere around the Pettah Market. To finish our day, we wanted to try some more Sri Lankan food and Sri Lankan street food so we started at Curry Pot located just beside our hotel called the Granbell Hotel. We tried a little bit of everything and truly enjoyed it. From there we went to Galle Face Green Beach waterfront for some authentic Sri Lanka street food. A bit spicy as usual but very delicious too.
