Road Website: https://www.felbertauernstrasse.at History and Background Information: The Felbertauernstrasse is a privatly owned road. It connects Mittersill with Matrei and is one of the fastest and cheapest ways to get from Munich (Germany) to Venice (Italy). It can be reached without using Austrias Highways wich are charged with tolls. The road can be seen as a "Mountain Highway" due its layout and build quality. The road it named after the Pass "Felber Tauern". It was built between 1962 and 1967 when it was first opened. Both the north and the south side of the road have relative constant steepness. At the top of the road lays the 5,3 km long tunnel. In 2013 there was a huge rockfall that destroyed parts of the road on the south end of this tunnel and the road had to be rebuilt in a different location.
