Today we’re making dairy products from scratch instead of buying them at the store — and I’m showing you just how easy it really is. My mom came over to spend the day in the kitchen with me, and together we made homemade yogurt, butter, cream cheese, and even a simple Velveeta-style cheese block using real ingredients. These are everyday staples that cost so much less to make at home, taste better, and don’t have all the extra fillers you find in store-bought versions. Once you learn these basic from scratch cooking skills, it’s hard to go back. If you’ve ever wanted to be more self-sufficient in the kitchen, save money on groceries, or build a more traditional homestead lifestyle, this is the perfect place to start. This video is the first episode in my new series: “Things You Can Easily Make Homemade Instead of Buying.” Each week we’ll tackle a new category and stock our pantry the old-fashioned way 🤍 In today’s video: • How to make homemade yogurt • How to make butter from heavy cream • Easy cream cheese from scratch • Homemade Velveeta-style cheese • Simple homestead kitchen skills for beginners If you love: homesteading, from scratch cooking, homemaking, gardening, sourdough, food preservation, or old-fashioned skills — you’re in the right place here at 6 Hearts on 6 Acres.
