Day 16 Locations: Tzen, Mobliz, Nikeah, South Figaro, Figaro Castle Steps Taken: 35,285 Playtime: 43 minutes Total Playtime: 17:26 Characters: Celes (L20) Sabin (L20) Edgar (L20) Terra (L21) Happy 32nd Birthday to myself. The last time I was doing this 14 years ago, I was turning 18, so time sure has flown. Birthday is the 17th, but the writing for Day 16 was done yesterday. Upon entering Tzen, Kefka flashes his Light of Judgement towards the town, destroying a home and leaving a child trapped inside. Sabin happens to be here and is strong enough to hold the entire house together, so it was up to Celes, or anyone to save the kid. You can completely skip getting Sabin here until you've recruited everyone, so I wonder how the dialogue may differ? I used to have a text editor for this game and don't recall checking. Anyway, you do want to be careful of some enemies in there which can stone you to death. My Ribbon was equipped for this reason, but I didn't encounter them. They aren't the Scorpions which are all I encountered besides the monster in a box enemies PM Stalker. I did fight these with Celes because they're a good source of MP. I did think about leveling her to 21 so she could fully learn Bio for Phunbaba, but I guess that didn't end up necessary. Grabbed all the treasures in the house with ample time considering PM Stalkers are very weak to magic and my Charm Bangle continues to be handy. Teamed up with Sabin and did some shopping. Grabbed 2 Poison Claws for Phunbaba, an Amulet just in case and 2 Super Balls. These are expensive and I honestly probably won't use them, but who knows. If I think they might be good to use on Doom Gaze, I may. Someone in town mentions how Mobliz was fried by the Light of Judgement even worse, so I headed there. Phunbaba is also optional now, you can avoid Mobliz until the end of the game just like with Sabin. Avoiding would've been smart at my level considering Phunbaba is so dangerous at this level. Walked over to Mobliz, even fighting a few of the battles to see if I could learn Bio by then, but not quite. Leveling up Celes would still keep the average at 20, even level 22 would. Once arriving here, you eventually find that Terra is taking care of a large group of orphans who'd parents had been killed by Kefka's Light of Judgement. Terra's lost the will to fight, so she can't join since she's confused over her emotions. Calling back to Terra's concern for Relm, children seem to be where she learned how to love. Don't mess with the kids, so when one comes in saying Phunbaba's here, she steps into action, into getting killed by her own magic... well, that was my doing. I figured I didn't wanna wait, so I just Bolt 2'd myself to death in 1 shot. Stepping up to the plate was Celes and Sabin next. Runic and Sabin attacking would've been the smartest as Giga Volt or Bolt 3 is an assured death, but you can't Runic Blowfish which is also assured under level 25, so I just hit him with Sabin and used an Ice Rod. Very good damage here, and I knew even after he took out Sabin that he'd be done after a Fire 2, so he ran off. Hate to be a bit cheap with the rod, but this battle isn't that important. Left Mobliz and took a Chocobo all the way to Nikeah. Here, Diamond equipment appears so I grabbed some vests and an armor. It's not useful for long, but I had the GP. Grabbed 2 Enhancers off the bat for Celes and Terra, a +7 magic weapon with added blocking too. Found obviously Edgar who's playing Gerad for the thieves to get back into Figaro. Siegfried is also around too for some reason, the plot armor was strong for this guy. All the hidden items you didn't grab from South Figaro level up huge around here. Once making it into the castle, you can finally go into the basement to destroy this tentacle monster that's been stopping the engine from letting Figaro move freely. Barely had any encounters on my way down, and overall quite an easy fight. Running Shoes are your friend since it stops you from getting slowed down which is how you get grabbed. Bio Blaster or just Bio at all will also destroy them, as they're all susceptible to poison. So gradually, their HP will drop by more each cycle of poison damage happens. This makes them a joke even lower leveled than I am here. It's too bad I couldn't keep Edgar alive until the end, but he has no Esper equipped and couldn't benefit from the win anyway. Grabbed that Soul Sabre which is hidden in the statue in the now looted treasure room and made my way up. Grabbed a few discounted items with Edgar at the front of the party and made my way towards Kohlingen. I probably should've at least met up with Setzer, but I'll save that for my birthday tomorrow.
