Day 24 Locations: Ebot's Rock, Colosseum, Kefka's Tower Steps Taken: 54,226 Playtime: 1:29 (realistically ~1:50) Total Playtime: 27:33 Characters: [Terra (L30) Locke (L29) Mog (L30) Cyan (L29)] [Clyde (L30) Relm (L29) Setzer (L29) Celes (L29)] [Gau (L29) Sabin (L29) Strago (L29) Edgar (L29)] In the brackets [-] I separated the 3 groups to storm the Tower. I started off learning Grand Train from Hidon, who was way easier leveled up. Grabbed a bunch of healing items beforehand, I left out the coral gathering. Flew over to the Colosseum after to bet an Elixir for Rename Card, since I like to rename Shadow as his true name: Clyde. I did bet Force Shield for Thornlet and that for Mirage Vest, thinking it'd be good on Mog, but lousy stats. It was now time to storm Kefka's Tower. I had 3 main mage groups, though everyone knew good Cure/Life spells. Edited out putting my teams together since it took a bit, and I was off. Everyone was so overpowered, and when I'd find myself in an encounter I couldn't escape, I'd just kill the Great Behemoth. Charm Bangles helped, and Mog's group was set. I did leave out also some equipping, since there was some trading or forgetting who had what on. I'll say this much: the Tower was extremely easy, I don't think I've dogwalked it so bad before. I did somehow forget Doom was weak to Pearl, then by the time I had Terra cast it, Doom had Reflect on, but Mog finished him from the sky afterwards. He became quite a strong Dragoon. Since the Tower is pretty much all bosses and the very important scene of consulting with Kefka, there's not much to say. Gau Wind Goded on Inferno, the Warring Triad were a joke. I sadly miscalculated a bit with the groups and never learned Quasar for Strago. Dark Force could've taught me too, but his magic stat was so high, Grand Train didn't even come in handy. Anyway, I edited out what I felt was necessary, which could've included some random encounters, but I wanted to show as much of the Tower as I could and how I managed to get by. Smoke Bombs were my main method of escape since it's guaranteed, and every character has their own "runaway success" stat. Not to mention, enemy formations have their own "difficulty" with escaping, especially here. When confronting Kefka and watching the scene, which like the Floating Continent is something better viewed than talked about, it took awhile for me to decide the order of my team. I did forget to add in Kefka utterly annihilating me in his final phase. I mean, it was just unfair, Train, Havoc Wing, Havoc Wing, Fallen One, Hyper Drive. He can be really hard sometimes, really easy others. The 2nd time around was the easiest I've beaten him in all the 24 Days I've done, and this was the lowest level I've been. The same 4 that reached him and died are the same 4 who got their sweet revenge. I liked what I had going, though I wouldn't have minded if Gau bit a Calmness from phase 3. As a Wind God, he can do so much damage, which was helping with phases 1 and 2. Smart move of me to put Life 3 on Terra at the last phase, she was definitely what made Kefka so easy. Locke dealt quite a bit of damage for level 29, doing around 4,500 damage per attack, and this was without the Red Cap. I had that on Edgar and forgot to remove it for the 2nd battle, so Locke would've been doing closer to 5,000. Illumina helped, of course. I did forget the Wing Edge from the Phoenix Cave, but by the time I realized that, I wasn't willing to go back, nor did I really have the time. Ultimately, Kefka and his tower fell pretty damn easily to a bunch of level 29 thugs (and a few level 30). It's been 20 years since this "challenge" was conceived, so I thought I'd pay tribute, and actually did impose a challenge on myself by playing lower leveled, which made the first 10 days so much more difficult than they needed to be, especially when I was playing with the flu and symptoms after. But, it's done, and I realize no one cares that much or watches really, but to the few who do: thanks for following this. I'm sure Nangbaby, who introduced this to YouTube in 2006 will see it one day and maybe then it'll spark people to start doing it again. Either way, Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!
