Welcome back to Wildlife Windows Dorset Hobby Falcon Cam for 2024! This is a live wild Hobby nest located in rural Dorest England with a pair of Eurasian Hobby (Falco Subbuteo) incubating three eggs. The hobby is a member of the falcon family roughly the same size as a kestrel and the second smallest falcon in the UK. It arrives here from north west Africa to breed every summer. They are nesting in a man-made nest. The video opens with Mom Hobby on the nest incubating her eggs. She gets up to take a break 00:40 and we have a nice view of her three eggs. Dad Hobby arrives to the nest at 01:46 to incubate. Mom will return at 03:08 to take over the incubation duties again. The eggs should start to hatch at the end of the first week of July! Egg 1 laid 2nd June 6:47 pm Egg 2 laid 5th June 6:46 am (60 hours) Egg 3 laid 7th June 8:04 pm (61.25 hours) Hatching should start approx. end of the first week in July. "This is the 3rd year we have been fortunate to set up this camera and the 4th year that we know hobbies have used this location to nest. The adult male is the same male (he is ringed) but we think the female is a new bird as she doesn’t have the aberrant white feather on her head which has been present in previous years. We still don’t have a full ring number for the male but are fairly certain he was ringed as a chick by us in 2019 approx. 10km away. " Thank you for watching!
