This is flight 7 of 24 from my recent trip where I flew around the Caribbean. In January, I set out to fly to as many places in the Caribbean as possible, and after 12 days, 13 airlines, 24 flights, and over 10,000 miles, I landed back in Kansas City, Missouri after visiting 14 different countries & territories. Thanks for watching! ---------- Inflight Series Episode 985: Flight Information: Aircraft Operator – Winair Flight Number – 501 City Pair – Philipsburg, Sint Maarten (SXM) – Oranjestad, Sint Eustatius (EUX) Equipment – De Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otter Equipment Tail Number – PJ-WIU Equipment Age – 39 Years 0 Months Livery – Winair (2016 Livery) Flight Date – January 16, 2025 Flight Time – 0 Hours 25 Minutes Seat – 1A Seat Class – Economy ---------- Around The Caribbean Progress – Flight 7 of 24 Flight 7 Fun Fact – This flight turned out to be an absolute nightmare and one of the most challenging flights I've ever filmed. For an unknown reason, that I still haven't ever been able to figure out, my camera had an absolute meltdown during the outbound taxi/takeoff portion of this flight... It can get very hot in the cabin of a Twin Otter. This is why Winair has the "I'm A Winair Fan" fans at every seat, so I suspect my camera may have been overheating, but you typically get a warning when that is happening, which I did not... Regardless during the taxi it started to re-focus over and over, before shutting off completely right as we were lining up for takeoff. I was able to get it running again right as power was applied, but the camera continued having focus issues during the takeoff roll. It then shut off completely again right after departure. I then switched to my backup camera and continued filming the rest of the flight without issues. After this flight I never had another issue with my primary camera for the rest of the trip... So who really knows what the deal was? Anyway, if you notice that stuff, I apologize for the focus issues and random cuts during the departure. Unfortunately, even the most reliable equipment sometimes has issues, and I did everything I could to salvage this one despite the problems I had during the departure.
