They asked Aaron to make them a god they could see. Aaron made a golden calf, and the people worshiped it. This was a great sin because God had just saved them from Egypt and had clearly said, “You shall have no other gods before Me” (Exodus 20:3). Idolatry means replacing the true God with something else. It can be a statue, money, power, or even our own ideas. This story shows the sinfulness of the human heart. Left to ourselves, we turn away from God and create idols. Only God’s grace can change our hearts and bring us back to true worship through Jesus Christ, who is the perfect image of God. 📖 Bible Readings: Exodus 32 (Exodus 20:1–6, Psalm 115:4–8, Isaiah 44:9–10, Romans 1:21–25, 1 John 5:21) 👨🏻💻 Teachings: 1. People are naturally forgetful of God. 2. People tend to invent their own gods. 3. People can corrupt weak leaders. 💪🏼 Applications: 1. Examine whether you have created your own god. 2. Establish in your mind that God is never delayed. 3. Exemplify biblical leadership by seeking to please God. 🎙 Discussion: Why do you think people sometimes prefer a god they can control instead of the true God? 🤿 Dive Deeper: Why is the human heart considered a factory of idols? 🙏🏼 Prayer: Father God, when I read about the golden calf, I see how quickly people forget You. I know my own heart can do the same. Sometimes I trust things I can see more than I trust You. Forgive me for the idols I build in my thoughts and desires. You alone are worthy of my worship. Please change my heart so I love You more than anything else. Keep me close to Jesus, who shows me who You truly are. I want to worship You in truth and with a loyal heart.
