This was one of the hardest track workouts I’ve ever taken on — 6 x 1K at 5K pace followed by 400m at 1-mile pace, with just 2–3 minutes of jog/walk recovery between each rep. Going in, I was honestly nervous about whether I could hit the splits, but it ended up being one of those sessions that reminds you why consistent training pays off. Big shoutout to Don and Kaelz for making guest appearances and repping Cap City Run Club here in Albany — good dudes and always great motivation on the track. If you’re marathon training or building endurance for any long-distance race, mixing in interval workouts like this is a huge way to push your aerobic and anaerobic systems, build confidence, and make race pace feel more manageable.
