Welcome back to another entry in “Meal Preps, But Vietnamese,” an ongoing series where I adapt some of my favorite Vietnamese dishes and turn them into meal preps to make losing weight more delicious and sustainable! Now again, the whole idea of this series is to continue to enjoy the foods I know and love but be more mindful of portion sizes so that we can eat at a slight caloric deficit. Now today, we’re making Ga Roti, which is a Vietnamese roasted chicken that’s marinated in a blend of five spice and soy, and it results in an incredibly flavorful and juicy chicken! Gà Rôti is a Vietnamese-style caramelized chicken dish that blends French influences with Vietnamese flavors. The term “roti” is derived from the French word “rôti,” meaning roasted; though the dish is not always roasted in the traditional sense, sometimes it can also involve braising or pan-frying chicken pieces until they develop a deep, golden caramelization.
