The pass crossing over the Colle del Colombardo connects the village of Condove in the southern Val Susa with the village of Lemie in the northern Val di Viù. The total distance from Condove to Lemie is around 35 km and you reach a maximum altitude of 1898 metres. The Madonna degli Angeli pilgrimage church, which is still used today for Marian pilgrimages, is located right there. The southern ascent to the pass begins in the village of Condove, which lies on the main SS24 road in the Susa Valley. Head north on a well-maintained tarmac road and after about 8 kilometres you will reach the actual entrance to the pass via the villages of Giagli, Pralesio and Mocchie. This turn-off to the north is signposted with Bigliasco, Campo dell'Alpe and Colombardo, among others. The route continues uphill on a tarmac road with hairpin bends until the road finally becomes a gravel track at Prato del Rio or at the turn-off to Alpe Goia. Shortly afterwards, you reach the tree line and the gravel road continues uphill past alpine meadows in a few hairpin bends. The actual ascent of the pass is around 17 kilometres long. At 10 kilometres, the northern ascent of the pass is significantly shorter but also steeper than the southern one. In some places, gradients of up to 20% can be reached. The approach branches off the SP32 road in Val di Viù to the south between the villages of Villa di Lemie and Forno di Lemie, which belong to the municipality of Lemie. The first third of the route is narrow but asphalted and easy to drive on and leads to the village of Sant' Antonio at around 1219 metres. From here, the route becomes a gravel road with a few hairpin bends and some rather steep sections up to the top of the pass. The crossing over the Colle del Colombardo is open to public motorised traffic and toll-free. Depending on the season and weather conditions, however, there is a winter closure. While the upper halves of the crossings over the Colle del Colombardo are on gravel roads, the Colle del Lys, which is only around 7 kilometres further east, is fully asphalted. The Colle del Colombardo is located in the Italian province of Torino in the Piedmont region. ▬ Content ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 00:00 Intro 00:15 Prolog 01:22 The Ride 32:43 And the Mavic spoke... 36:45 Outro ▬ Links ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Playlist Italy: • Italy / Italien Playlist Passes: • Passes / Pässe WalkTheMavic: / @walkthemavic4197 ▬ About this channel ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Walk The Mavic (WTM) - Interesting roads, passes and gorges in the Alps - Nature and landscapes - Castles, forts, fortresses and fortifications - Photos and videos, if possible and allowed, also aerial photos/videos with the drone.
