On January 21, 2026, DARE-RC hosted Webinar 5, an online session showcasing an example of engaged and responsive education research that evolves alongside policy implementation and classroom realities. 🎤 Moderated by: Dr. Sahar Shah, Senior Research Manager, DARE-RC, Oxford Policy Management 🎓 Speakers: Dr. Aliya Khalid, Senior Departmental Lecturer, Department for Education, University of Oxford Dr. Hameedah Sayani, Senior Faculty, Government Elementary College of Education The session drew on in-depth fieldwork with teachers, school leaders, and education experts to examine the implementation of Student Learning Outcomes (SLO)–based curricula and assessments. Rather than only documenting reform, the research actively responded to challenges identified during implementation. A central focus of the discussion was the co-development of a practical teaching resource, designed to support teachers struggling to translate SLO policy into day-to-day classroom practice. Speakers reflected on how continuous engagement with stakeholders shaped the research design, findings, and outputs, demonstrating how research can remain analytically rigorous while directly informing teaching and learning support. 📌 Key takeaways included: • How iterative, field-responsive research strengthens education reforms • Gaps between SLO policy intent and classroom practice • The value of co-creating practical tools with teachers • Lessons for aligning research, policy implementation, and classroom realities The webinar brought together researchers, educators, and policymakers to explore how responsive research can meaningfully support curriculum and assessment reform in Pakistan and similar contexts.
