There’s a common misconception that sustainability is a luxury – something to pursue when times are good. But in reality, sustainability is one of the most powerful tools we have to navigate volatility, climate risk, and global uncertainty. Sustainability is not an add-on – it belongs at the core of how we steer companies and societies forward. To make real progress, we must change the narrative. Sustainability is not a side project, nor is it a marketing issue. It is a governance issue. It should live in strategy sessions, in supply chain decisions, in financial planning. When embedded into core business processes, ESG becomes a driver of resilience, innovation, and long-term value. We need to stop asking whether we can afford sustainability and start realizing that we can't afford to ignore it.
