Do you have flat feet and limited ankle mobility? Many people with flat feet have limited ankle mobility. If this sounds like you, here’s why: Full ankle mobility requires two movements/shapes of the foot: Supination and Pronation. These shapes involve movement of the front of the foot relative to the back of the foot. When we have flat feet, the whole foot rolls in as a unit, preventing us from being able to access either shape effectively. So to restore these shapes/movements, we need to go through these steps: Step 1: Roll the foot out to reacquire the supinated shape Step 2: Translate the tibia over the foot, while maintaining outer edge contact (true pronation) If we can do this, we will restore both movements, and with enough practice, full ankle mobility.
