Most tutorials teach you how to move a sprite and then stop. This series is different. We aren't just building a mechanic; we are shipping a product. In this 3-part series, we are taking a "Depth Charge" arcade shooter from an empty folder all the way to a playable HTML5 game on itch.io. Today in Part 1, we lay the foundation. You'll learn how to build the core game loop, handle player and enemy interactions, and set up the systems we need to eventually export this to the web. We’ll cover: The Mechanic: Flipping the script on side-scrollers by fighting gravity on the Y-axis. The Setup: Using a SignalBus to keep our game logic simple and ready for expansion. The Goal: Getting a playable prototype running so we can polish and publish it in the next videos.
