Today, the Lamu Youth Assembly in partnership with The Oslo Center under the support of Vänsterns Internationella Forum led by H.E. Nahida Kassim convened a powerful Youth Baraza in Hindi Ward — a space that brought together the Ward Administrator, the Area Chief, religious leaders, and the youth for an honest and solutions-driven dialogue. In this Baraza, young people boldly voiced the challenges they face daily — rising unemployment, lack of access to clean drinking water, limited youth inclusion in public participation, the absence of talent centres, and minimal support for sports and creative development. What made this session stand out was a deeply rooted concern that has stretched across generations: the lack of land ownership by the youth in Hindi Ward. Many expressed the pain of living on ancestral land without official recognition, a historical injustice that continues to deny them security, opportunity, and dignity. Today, they came together with one unified message: It is time for the County Government to issue title deeds and restore ownership of their ancestral land to the youth and community of Hindi Ward. Despite the challenges, the youth also showcased resilience by proposing practical solutions — from creating platforms for meaningful youth participation in governance. This Baraza reaffirmed one truth: when youth are given a seat at the table, they not only raise their voices — they shape the future of their community. Lamu Youth Assembly remains committed to amplifying these voices and pushing for lasting, people-centered solutions. #YouthVoicesMatter #LandRights #CommunityEngagement
