Updated London Underground train fleet: • London Underground Train Fleet | Current, ... London Underground current and future train fleet. This video shows the current and future rolling stock used on all 11 lines of the London Underground, the first Underground railway in the world which first opened in 1863. This video shows the train fleets for all 7 Tube lines (Bakerloo, Central, Jubilee, Northern, Piccadilly, Victoria and Waterloo & City) as well as all 4 Sub Surface lines (Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan). The London Underground has opened in stages since 1863 with the newest extension being in 2021 on the Northern line. The current network consists of 272 stations across 11 lines with a mix of deep level tube and cut & cover Sub-Surface lines. The London Underground is currently operated by Transport for London although parts of the network share infrastructure with National Rail services such as with the Metropolitan line sharing track with Chiltern Railways. The Underground connects most London terminal stations such as Paddington, Euston, St Pancras, Kings Cross, Liverpool Street, Waterloo and Victoria. Each London Underground line generally has its own rolling stock with some lines sharing stock. Some of the older stock is currently planned to be replaced while others are to remain in operation for a few more years. Tube Lines: The Bakerloo line is currently operated with 1972 stock, the oldest on the network. This line is part of the New Tube for London (NTfL) project which will see around 250 new trains built for 4 tube lines however the Bakerloo line new stock has not yet been ordered due to the cost of new rolling stock. The Bakerloo Line operates from Harrow & Wealdstone to Elephant & Castle. The Central line is currently operated with 1992 stock. This line is part of the New Tube for London (NTfL) project which will see around 250 new trains built for 4 tube lines however the Central line new stock has not yet been ordered due to the cost of new rolling stock. The Central Line operates from West Ruislip and Ealing Broadway to Hainault and Epping. The Jubilee line is currently operated by 1996 stock. This line is not currently planned to have any changes to its rolling stock. The Jubilee line operates from Stratford to Stanmore. The Northern line is currently operated by 1995 stock. This line is not currently planned to have any changes to its rolling stock. The Northern line operates from Edgware, High Barnet and Mill Hill East to Battersea Power Station via Charing Cross and Morden via Bank. The Piccadilly line currently operated with 1973 stock, the second oldest on the network. This line is part of the New Tube for London (NTfL) project which will see around 250 new trains built for 4 tube lines with the Piccadilly line getting new 9 carriage trains currently due to enter service in 2025 making this the only line to have new rolling stock confirmed. The Piccadilly line operates from Cockfosters to Heathrow Airport and Uxbridge. The Victoria line is currently operated by 2009 stock, the newest Tube stock on the network. This line is not currently planned to have any changes to its rolling stock. The Victoria line operates from Walthamstow Central to Brixton. The Waterloo & City line is currently operated with 1992 stock. This line is part of the New Tube for London (NTfL) project which will see around 250 new trains built for 4 tube lines however the Waterloo & City line new stock has not yet been ordered due to the cost of new rolling stock. The Waterloo & City Line operates between just 2 stations, Waterloo and Bank. Sub-Surface Lines: There are no changes currently planned to any of the sub-surface line rolling stock. The Circle line is currently operated by S7 stock shared with the District and Hammersmith & City lines. The Circle line operates from Hammersmith to Edgware Road via Edgware Road. The District line is currently operated by S7 stock shared with the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines. The District line operates from Upminster and Tower Hill to Wimbledon, Richmond and Ealing Broadway as well as from Edgware Road and High Street Kensington to Kensington Olympia and Wimbledon. The Hammersmith & City line is currently operated by S7 stock shared with the District and District lines. The Hammersmith & City line operates from Hammersmith to Barking. The Metropolitan line is currently operated by S8 stock which have the most capacity per train on the entire network. The Metropolitan line operates from Aldgate and Baker Street to Uxbridge, Watford, Amersham and Chesham with some services operating as fast and semi fast services.
