Ease the muscles out and energise your spine with the twisting movements of Swimming Dragon. Swimming Dragon is normally done with feet together, but if you have any back issues or find the stretches too intense, widen your stance and reduce the motion to make it comfortable. It's meant to feel good! The main thing to remember is that your head faces one way and your hips and hands go in the other direction. Knocking on the Gate of Life Let your arms and hands relax and swing loosely out. The movement of the waist is what creates the movement in the arms. Let the loose fists knock on the lower back and on the lung points on the inside front of the shoulders. Three Thumps Kidney, thymus and spleen - a quick way to energise and rebalance the whole system. Swimming Dragon warm up Use this time to find your comfort zone and to warm up. The head looks one way and the hips and hands the other. This twist creates a gentle wringing and stretching all through the back muscles. The rest is up to you - feel into your limits and find what is comfortable. Swimming Dragon Feet together and hands palm together at the heart. The hands remain palm together all the way through. Start by scooping in energy to the body. Then pass your hands by the throat, the solar plexus, the hips, and then back up to the solar plexus and the throat again. Twist your head and your body in the opposite direction to your hands. It's like drawing a figure eight in front of the body. Then move your hands in a snake-like swimming motion, letting them lead the spine in a series of sinuous movements. Swim your hands all the way up, come up on your toes and then sink down on the heels and bring the hands back to the heart again.
