Michael Irvin Files Amended Complaint in Defamation Case, Reveals SURPRISING Details

In this video, we’ll look at highlights from new court filings in Michael Irvin's $100M defamation lawsuit against Marriott and others. Specifically, we'll look at the Amended Complaint that Irvin recently filed in Arizona state court. BECOME A CHANNEL MEMBER:    / thelegalpad   Last March, Michael Irvin re-filed his defamation lawsuit in Arizona state court after a federal court in Texas ordered Marriott to turn over a copy of the hotel-lobby surveillance footage showing Irvin’s interaction with his accuser, Jane Doe. The surveillance footage depicts a harmless interaction between Irvin and his accuser in the middle of a crowded hotel lobby. Despite this fact, to this date, Michael Irvin remains suspended from covering the NFL. The NFL Network and ESPN have effectively cancelled Irvin from television. As a result, Irvin was not allowed to cover the NFL combine or the recent draft. On April 21, Michael Irvin filed an Amended Complaint in his defamation case. Irvin’s Amended Complaint differs from his Original Complaint in several noteworthy ways. First, Irvin’s Amended Complaint reveals that the Honorable Katherine Cooper is the judge who has been assigned to preside over Irvin’s lawsuit. Judge Cooper graduated from Virginia Law School in 1987. After that, she worked in private practice for over a decade. According to an article in the Arizona Times, “She left the firm and the practice of law in 1997 to work for the Historic First Church in downtown Phoenix as the director of lay ministries, organizing events, volunteers and working with the homeless and inner-city children’s programs of the church. Cooper volunteered at the church for five years as a teacher before taking the paid position. She returned to law in 2002 with a private firm and eventually made her way to the Scottsdale City Attorney’s Office, where she defended the city in lawsuits.” In 2011, Arizona's Republican governor appointed Judge Cooper to the bench where she has served ever since. Second, Irvin’s Amended Complaint adds the spouses of the individual Defendants as new Defendants to his lawsuit. Irvin’s Amended Complaint identifies the spouses as "Jane" and "John Doe." You might be wondering, “Why would Irvin add the husbands and wife of the individual Defendants to his defamation lawsuit? What did they have to do with the incident?" I'll answer those questions in this video. Third, we'll look at a new factual allegation that Irvin added to his Amended Complaint. Fourth, we'll review Irvin's new "invasion of privacy false light" claim that he added to his Complaint. Fifth, I'll briefly comment on the fact that Irvin still does not appear to have served his accuser, Defendant Jane Doe, with a copy of the summons and Complaint. I'll explain why I find this extremely unusual. Finally, I'll explain what is likely to happen next in Irvin's lawsuit.
