So, todays question is “is baking powder gluten free” To answer it, we have to just quickly look at what baking powder is made up of. So usually in baking powder you will have three things. Bicarbonate of soda, cream of tartar and the third ingredient is normally corn flour to absorb moisture, but this can change depending on the manufacturer, so please have a look on your ingredients list before you use it. If it is just corn flour then that is fine for gluten free diets but if there is gluten in your baking powder or the person has a corn intolerance, you can make your own baking powder by mixing 2 parts cream of tartar with 1 part bicarbonate of soda. You can then just use that as you would use baking powder.
