Welcome back to the online pastry school YouTube channel. Todays question is, “is dark chocolate dairy free and gluten free?” The straight answer is, mostly yes. True good quality dark chocolate is diary free, vegan and gluten free. It’s a god send when you have guests that want dessert but are allergic to everything. The only thing you might see in the ingredients list though is cocoa butter, but that’s not related to dairy so its fine for diary frees and vegans. The times when you have to be careful is with more commercial dark chocolates like cadbury’s and lint, those normally have some dairy in them to make them more creamy. Just look out for ingredients like milk fat, milk solids, cream, lactose or whey because these all come from dairy. Mostly though if you are using good quality chocolate it shouldn’t contain any. As for being gluten free, yes, all types of plain chocolate are gluten free and it’s absolutely fine so you don’t need to worry about that.
