The Government of Andhra Pradesh is making major moves to transform the state into a leading hub for aerospace and aeronautical manufacturing, attracting large investments and cutting-edge projects. As part of its ambitious industrial vision, several initiatives have been launched to build advanced aviation, aerospace, and defence manufacturing facilities across the state. One of the biggest developments is the agreement with Sarla Aviation to build a 500-acre integrated aerospace “Sky Factory” in Anantapur district, with an initial investment of around ₹1,300 crore. This facility will focus on the design, production, testing, certification, and maintenance of next-generation electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft — positioning Andhra Pradesh as a global contender in future aerial mobility. In addition, Flying Wedge Defence & Aerospace (FWDA) has signed an MoU with the state government to set up a 500-acre autonomous combat aircraft manufacturing and testing facility. This ₹1,169 crore project will support research, development, assembly, testing, and systems integration of autonomous aircraft, aligning with India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives. Andhra Pradesh’s Aerospace and Defence Policy 4.0 (2025–2030) aims to attract massive investments (₹50,000 crore to ₹1 lakh crore) and position the state as a strategic aerospace and defence manufacturing leader. The policy supports cluster-based development, infrastructure incentives, and strong public-private partnerships to build a thriving industrial ecosystem.
