VN24 - 09-09-2024 - Unna B233 / Germany - Coming from the A44 freeway, the driver wanted to turn onto the B233 federal highway heading south at the Unna-Ost interchange. Here he obviously underestimated a bend and tipped over with the left side of his semi-trailer truck onto the asphalt, skidded across the lanes and broke through the central guardrail of the oncoming lane with the tractor unit. He was apparently not injured and remained at the scene until his vehicle was recovered. Salvaging the trailer, which weighed around 27 tons, proved difficult as the accident site was located directly below a 110,000-volt high-voltage power line. This ran less than 15 meters (590 inches) above the road. This meant that a normal mobile crane could not be set up. A team from the electricity supplier gave clearance on site for a maximum working height of 9 meters (354 inches). A special vehicle with a loading crane and a lifting capacity of 32 tons (Palfinger 165.002 Tec7) met these conditions. This was able to raise the truck upright again with the help of the winches of a tow truck. A second tow truck was used for the soft landing of the truck, which slowly lowered the truck onto the asphalt from the opposite side after the tipping point. Unfortunately, the camera that was supposed to film this process had been misaligned. ++++ Picture material (film/photo) © VN24.nrw ► Order material at [email protected] Any publication of the photographic material is subject to a fee; sharing for private, non-commercial purposes within the intended functions of the platform is permitted.
