READ: On today's less than stellar NextGen debut on 2154, we were able to clock 160 mph twice. The run in NJ was marred by a slight pantograph bounce (we momentarily lost head end power; power outlets and HVAC shut off) which caused the train to slow from 150 mph to 120 mph starting at Princeton Junction before accelerating back up to almost 160 mph at which point the train braked immediately for the 145 mph restriction at Midway. The Rhode Island run was better, as we were able to hit 160 mph before the overspeed alarm forced us back down to 155 mph. The Massachusetts run was completely ruined when the rear power car main circuit breaker would not close after the phase gap east of Attleboro, necessitating the need to drop the rear power car's pantograph and raise the front power car's pan on the fly. As a result, we only hit about 145 mph in Mass before spending most of the stretch between Attleboro and Mansfield at a dismal 45 mph. Hopefully once these trains are cleared for the upgraded A speeds and all the teething issues are worked out, we'll see better performance on the truly high speed sections of the NEC. Enjoy and stay tuned =) Full 2154 NextGen ride: • Amtrak NextGen Acela Revenue Service Debut...
