NAAN BREAD RECIPE 1/2 cup warm water 2 tsp instant yeast 1 tsp sugar 3 Tbsp olive oil (1.5 Tbsp for dough, 1.5 Tbsp to coat bowl) 1/4 cup plain yogurt (or sour cream) 1 egg 1/2 tsp salt 2 cups all-purpose flour for dough (plus some more to dust on working surface) 2 Tbsp butter, melted to brush on top after cooked 1) Combine warm water, yeast and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes or until bubbly. 2) Add all other ingredients (using only 1.5 Tbsp olive oil)... exclude the butter. stir until smooth. 3) Kneed a few times until smooth and the dough is soft. You may need to add additional flour to make the soft dough. 2 cups flour is all I have ever needed. 4) Place dough in an oiled bowl (using the remaining 1.5 Tbsp of olive oil). Cover the bowl and let rise in a warm place until dough doubles - about 1 hour. 5) Preheat skillet to medium-high heat. 6) Cut the dough into 8 pieces. Roll each into 6" circle. 7) Lightly oil skillet. Cook each circle for 2 to 3 minutes, then flip and cook 2 to 3 minutes more. Brush the bubbly side with butter. ENJOY!
