All We Imagine as Light - Star Kani Kusruti - main character, what a loser! haha

#allweimagineaslight #kanikusruti #lff2024 KANI KUSRUTI plays the main character in Payal Kapadia’s Cannes 2024 Grand Prix winning film, ‘All We Imagine as Light’. It premiered near the end of London Film Festival (October 9-20) and we got the opportunity to talk to the star about her role and the film. In this interview she talks about she came to work with Kapadia – some years ago for this project – some time before it came to be actually shot and like us, she has seen Kapadia’s development from her first film ‘A Night of Knowing Nothing’ which also won an award in Cannes 2021 (interview here -    • Cannes 2021: Golden Eye award top doc...  ) Kusruti plays a nurse from the southwestern state of Kerala, where the language is Malayalam and discusses how she got into the role and her two vital and wonderful female actors, Divya Prabha who plays fellow nurse and Mumbai flatmate Anu (and features in the trailer) and Parvati essayed by Chhaya Kadam and to whom Kusruti refers to as Chhaya-ji towards the end of this. She also describes her acting journey alongside that of Prabha, and their early days in TV in Kerala and then onto why Malayalam and Kerala cinema has grown in stature over time, the limited release of the film in the state (October) and ahead of a more general countrywide release. ‘All We Imagine as Light’ premiered at the London Film Festival on Friday, October 18 and also screened at Mami (Mumbai Academy of Moving Image) on the same day.
