Installed in 2013 to serve the massive Grey Mountain Expansion, this Poma quad serves intermediate and advanced terrain. Originally installed in 1992 at Alyeska as Chair 4, replaced by a Doppelmayr detachable quad in 2012 and reinstalled at Red the next year. It uses a Poma Alpha bottom drive/tension terminal, standard 90’s Poma sheaves & lifting frames, Competition chairs, and a fixed Poma Y top return. It serves some of the most well liked terrain at Red as well as access to Mt Kirkup cat skiing trails, but the very tall towers this lift has results in it usually being the first to go on wind hold. This and the lifts agonizingly slow speed and very long length 2nd only to Motherlode, result in it being one of the least liked lifts on the mountain. Nonetheless, I expect to see this lift here another 15-20 years.
