Barker Mountain Express is a four-person detachable chairlift load located at Sunday River Resort. The chairlift runs from the Barker Mountain Base Area up to the top of Barker Mountain. The lift primarily serves the terrain located off of Barker Mountain which consists of a variety of both ungroomed and groomed intermediate and advanced terrain. From the top of the chairlift skiers and riders may also access the White Cap and South Ridge base areas. The chairlift was manufactured by Yan and installed at the resort in 1987, replacing a 1971 Pullman-Berry double chairlift of the same name. Due to safety issues with many of Yan's chairlifts, the lift has been retrofitted by Poma. Sunday River Resort is a ski resort located in Newry, Maine. The resort is located in Western Maine in Oxford County, about a 1.5-hour drive northwest of Portland and about a 3-hour drive north of Boston. Sunday River is known for its wide variety of terrain spread out across eight separate peaks. White Cap is known for its steep terrain, especially the famous White Heat trail; Locke Mountain and Barker Mountain feature a variety of both intermediate and advanced trails; North Peak is the resort's center and features many beginner and intermediate groomed runs; Spruce Peak and Aurora Peak feature a variety of terrain for those of all skill levels; Oz features the resort's most difficult glades; and Jordan Bowl features primarily long beginner and intermediate groomers. Sunday River is owned by Boyne Resorts and is therefore a partner on the Ikon Pass, with full pass holders receiving 7 unrestricted days at the resort, with base pass holders receiving 5 days with blackouts.
