Graduation Day — Maple May-May Where do I begin? It has been quite the journey, to say the least. Because she was so tiny to be spayed and had so many long-term medical challenges, Maple stayed with us for almost six months. She saw more doctors than any other foster kitten I’ve ever had, and she was a champ through every single vet visit. From the day she met the boys, she became their leader, and they accepted her without hesitation. One of the reasons I ended up saving her was because I thought Grits needed a playmate. Shrimp and Grits came to me together, but their personalities were so different that they didn’t play well together at first. I started searching for another male kitten close in size to Grits. While looking, I stumbled upon a tiny singleton kitten with a leg deformity that needed to be saved. I wasn’t planning on rescuing a fourth kitten...but there was something about her eyes. They captivated me. For non-profit rescues, joint issues can mean significant financial responsibility, which might explain why she hadn’t been rescued yet. Luckily, I had just received donations from my supporters—enough to cover a major procedure—and with that, I pulled her out of the shelter. Shrimp, Grits, Waffles, and Maple became The Brunch Bunch. Shrimp was adopted and reunited with my previous foster kitten, Apollo. Waffles and Grits were adopted together, just as I had hoped. Maple was the last of The Brunch Bunch to graduate, but I finally found someone I was confident would love her and take great care of her. Her new family flew in and spent two nights and three days getting to know her before flying back to their home state. It’s been a few days since her adoption, and I’m already receiving wonderful updates from her new mom daily. Maple now has two feline sisters and is slowly getting to know them through scent and sound. I have a feeling she’s going to be very spoiled. And this concludes the graduation of The Brunch Bunch! Thank you again for your love and support. #WhyWeFoster
