Overview: This study explored how single working mothers experienced resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a feminist narrative inquiry approach, nine participants shared their stories through video-recorded interviews, each beginning with mindful breathing. The Listening Guide analytic method helped uncover a new definition of resilience, highlighting self-awareness, acceptance, self-compassion, positivity, agency, self-care, and perseverance as interconnected traits. Six contrapuntal voices revealed internal tensions, systemic inequities, and the complexity of their lived experiences. The findings informed the creation of a Resilience and Wellness Wheel, a coaching tool designed to foster awareness and support for resilience and well-being in this population. Bio-sketch: Sylvie M. Maury, Ph.D., ACC, is an executive, resilience, and wellness coach with a global background in leadership and a strong focus on well-being grounded in research. She earned her Ph.D. in Mind-Body Medicine from Saybrook University, where she explored the resilience of single working mothers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her findings informed the creation of the Resilience and Wellness Wheel, a practical coaching tool that supports awareness and adaptation in high-stress environments. Sylvie integrates neuroscience, mindfulness, and systems thinking to help leaders, teams, and individuals navigate complexity, make clear decisions, and grow through challenge. Fluent in several languages, she brings an international lens to her work, emphasizing connection, balance, and forward movement. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Sylvie is active in professional coaching communities including the International Coaching Federation. She empowers leaders to create psychologically safe environments, build trust, and drive lasting transformation, especially in high-stakes, high-change contexts.
