Therese Villarante swears that Poetry does not only leap from the page. It runs, swims, holds conversation and everything else that a living being is capable of. Poetry may come in the packaging of a poem but it is never merely an idea. It unravels what we claim to have already encountered and ultimately suggests that so much more can be experienced in every moment. Poetry can be ambitious and as powerful as having something to fight for. However, its purpose and significance is best appreciated everyday under ordinary circumstances. In Poetry and Other (Very) Real Dares, Therese redefines Poetry as accessible, practical and necessary for a full life. A theater actress, lyricist, concept artist, co-writer of girlwithabrokenstring.tumblr.com and Literature teacher, Therese owes it to reading poems that she rediscovers all that this world has to offer her and vice versa. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
