hello :3 this is a VOD from one of my twitch streams! if you like what you see then consider checking me out there Twitch: twitch.tv/virasyr well... it's the end of the canto and even a few weeks later I still don't know how to feel about it. I guess in the simplest way possible, I think they had some really good ideas but just didn't have the time/space to properly execute it, which is weird since the first 2 parts felt like dragging my feet through glass while the third's pace was breakneck. Rien, Araya, Valencina, and Lucio are all highlights of the canto (imo), but notice how many newly introduced characters are missing? They just felt there for the sake of being there and a bunch of their relevant lore was crammed into skills that (as you can see from my gameplay) I didn't even notice until it was too late and now I don't wanna go back to check all of them when it could have been more naturally incorporated into the main narrative. Being carried by an op teammate felt terrible (except the kaiser fight that one was good despite my complaining. also since they do this i don't feel the need to read the skills since they clearly don't want me to engage with this opponent, so why would i read their skills? whatever) and that was the bulk of this whole part. So what are we left with in the end but a bunch of under-baked side characters clogging up the run time, sluggish gameplay nodes, and a whole lot of wasting my time. I really want to like Ryoshu's relationship with Araya, and I do in a lot of aspects (it is the heart of this narrative ofc), but I can't help but wish that their current states were given a bit more room to breathe. I understand the emotional climax is Araya seeing her mother's love for what it truly is, and despite the pain she's endured she still loves her more than anything, but I feel like it needed more time. Rien is easily the best new character they've introduced despite him being a filthy r*land cosplayer (literally why did they do this other than fanservice) and I wish PM spent more time focusing on him, Araya, and Ryoshu instead of all of these randos with unfinished and unsatisfying endings. I do like the ending itself though. After all that time, Ryoshu is free from her binding threads. TL;DR: it's whatever. there's good parts but is bogged down by poor pacing and a simultaneously bloated and undeveloped side cast.
