28th July 2019 Join us on our walk of historic Northumberland as we continue our hike. Packed full of history and beautiful scenery. UK hiking at its best in England's least populated county. Please SUBSCRIBE so you don't miss any future sections. ----- If you would like to support me, I am raising money for surgery in Spain: https://gofund.me/045d82ea ----- Section 16: Bellingham to Dally Castle In this section we begin by visiting Hareshaw Linn, a spectacular waterfall walk that makes a great three mile short walk on its own. Afterwards we return to Bellingham and explore a Northumbrian legend connected to a grave marker in the Church of St Cuthberts. From Bellingham we follow the Pennine Way by the show ground before leaving the national trail in order to make our way to Hesleyside Hall the family seat of the once notorious Border reiver family, the Charltons. As this series is very much about me and Neil exploring Northumberland and hammering out the route for a new trail, we are going to sometimes make mistakes by taking the wrong route. This was our first error of route. It is advisable that you continue along the country lane from Hesleyside Hall to Dally Castle. However, we decided to head up hill across Shitlington Common in order to reach Watch Crags. The idea was that with such a name, Watch Crags would provide spectacular views of the North Tyne valley. The views were good but the effort required reaching the crags through thigh high heather and tall grass was not worth it. Here Neil and I parted ways because after putting in the effort to reach the crags, I wanted to see the view from the top, while Neil just wanted to end the walk and go home. I, however, had the map and became concerned for Neil's safety. However, all ended well in the end. To be continued...
