Come join Midcoast Watersheds Council for a presentation about basic turtle ecology, why turtles are in trouble, and what ODFW and native turtle conservation partners are doing to conserve them. You will learn how to look for and identify turtle species and what you can do to help them. You will also have the opportunity to meet ODFW’s live un-releasable turtles up close. Speaker: Susan Barnes Susan Barnes is a Wildlife Biologist and has been with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) for over 27 years. Her current work focuses on conservation of Species of Greatest Conservation Need in northwestern Oregon. She is actively engaged in turtle research and surveys, working with partners including private landowners to fill key data gaps and find remnant turtle populations. Other interests include invasive species, impact avoidance/minimization and mitigation strategies, and community engagement in conservation action.
