Driving Mandeville Canyon (Brentwood) Mandeville Canyon / Brentwood / Westwood / Los Angeles Episode 246 Mandeville Canyon was known as ‘Casa Viejo Cañon’ in the late 1800s. A version of the current name appeared on a map after the turn of the last century as “Mandiville Canyon”. Polo fields were established in the 1920s, and players and thoroughbred breeders built homes and stables in the canyon. An elaborate botanical garden, with plantings from all over the world, was also established around this time. During the 1932 Summer Olympics, the canyon was used for equestrian events. Today, Mandeville Canyon is an affluent neighborhood found at the westernmost point of Brentwood, known for its country-style living, large properties, and proximity to outdoor activities. Mandeville Canyon Road starts north of Sunset Blvd, extends about three miles into the gorge, and is the longest dead-end street in the City of Los Angeles. Music by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio
