The Cavenagh-Mainwaring family has owned Whitmore Hall in Staffordshire, England since 1086 (yes, that's 940 years ago). From medieval origins, through the Tudor age, and Georgian period, the house has been improved, and expanded many times. Through good times and bad, including the Civil War, it has survived with the same family in residence. Current head of the family Edward, along with his sister Fleur, give us an exclusive tour of Whitmore revealing reception rooms, portraits, grand bedrooms, curious family treasures, and the fabric of this historic building. And, Edward explains the extraordinary story of how he is one of the few men who has ever come face-to-face with his own great-great-great-Grandfather. Whitmore Hall's lakes and wellness facilities are open to visitors throughout the year. For UK television viewers, you can see more of Fleur, Edward and Whitmore Hall in Channel 4's "Saving Country Houses with Penelope Keith".
