Sabine Lippert loves beaded spheres. Designing them, beading them, teaching them to others, sharing the joy far and wide. Sabine also loves beading patterns - and runs a thriving bead pattern website entitled: https://www.trytobead.com/ In this interview, Sabine shares stories from her formative years, including her life as a medical doctor. After discovering a local bead store in her hometown of Bonn, Germany, Sabine slowly transitioned away from medicine and into beading full time. When it came time to tell her mother about her career move, Sabine feared her mother would be terribly upset. Instead, her mother listened and said "I'm so proud of you." As a young person, Sabine's mother was a gifted fine artist who dreamed of a career in the arts. But the values of the post-World War era dictated she be a homemaker only. In a sense, then, Sabine fulfilled her mother's greatest dream, while fulfilling her own inner knowing. Sabine also shows some of her most popular spheres, while explaining how they are made. All involve combining beading techniques - and layering them too - to produce the beaded gems she is admired for. One day, Sabine found herself needing a certain kind of glass bead drop that was not on the market. She wanted something slimmer than a magatama, a shape more like a grain of rice. Sabine tells the story of her meeting with Hynek Strnad of All Beads CZ, and how she took out a napkin and sketched the bead she had in mind. Long story short, the Rizo bead was born, and the napkin - nicely framed - hangs in Hynek's office to this day. Sabine is also an author. She has written 3 acclaimed books on beading. All can be purchased online from Amazon or other suppliers. The links below lead to the official OCLC/Worldcat website - an enormous database of the world's books.
