The American Beetles were…… Well an American version of The Beatles from West Palm Beach, Florida The “fab” four of this band were Bill Ande - lead guitarist Vic Gray - bassist Tom Condra - guitarist Dave Hieronymus - drummer They originally formed at The Ardells (also known as The R-Dells) in 1959, and recorded a few singles for many labels. Then the band got a manager by the name of Bob Yorey and changed their name to The American Beetles (as a joke) in 1964 and recorded their first single under the new name on Roulette Records, which was a cover of Chuck Berry’s “School Days.” Soon enough the band began touring South America to which they became somewhat popular in Argentina (mostly for being a knockoff band before knockoff bands were invented in the 80s and 90s. Some people were fooled into that they were The real Beatles) Bill, Dave, Vic and Tom really immersed themselves of being a knockoff band. They even wanted to do a sitcom that was a ripoff “A Hard Days Night,” but then they started maturing and eventually became their own band After recording their final single “I Wish You Everything” in 1965 the band dropped #theamericanbeetles name and changed their name to The Razor’s Edge that had a hit in 1966 titled “Let’s Call It A Day Girl” (the song would be covered by Bobby Vee and became another hit for him 3 years later) the band recorded their final single in 1967 before splitting Dave Hieronymus passed away on December 1st 2013 in North Carolina Released 1965 Label Yorey Records - Y#1001 A side I Wish You Everything B side Say You Do Here is a live performance of “Mean Woman Blues” from the band, recorded in Argentina • The American Beetles - Live 1964 - Mean wo...
