Staem Battles the Seasons Rail & Sail - November 2024 Steamrail K183 Hello all, Welcome to a Victorian heritage video. Today we head out for the last Rail & Sail for 2024. This also makes it the last steam tour, along with being the last public Steamrail Victoria tour, for the year. The Rail & Sail is a two-part tour, split into the aforementioned components. Beginning with the rail component, a mid-morning departure has the train travel out to Geelong behind K183. This time, however, they travel via the RRL due to trackworks on the Werribee line. The sail component has passengers aboard the Bellarine Express, owned and operated by Port Phillip Ferries, departing in tandem with the train. The trip takes them out of the Yarra River into Port Phillip Bay, then for a quick stop in Portarlington. The last stretch has them travel into the Geelong Inner Harbour, pulling up in the Steampackets Pier. In this video we follow along with the steam section. We begin at North Melbourne for the transfer. Then travel out onto the Geelong line where we get stuck in the storm. The tour allows passengers to enjoy two modes of relaxing travel, either with the sound of steam along the rails or the waves of the ocean, to and from Geelong.
