Curiosity... Did Not Kill the Cat: Alicia Hardesty at TEDxYouth@Caltech

Alicia is the founder/designer behind the lifestyle brand Original Tomboy, a clothing line for women who re-define what it means to dress like a girl. She recently competed on season 10 of Project Runway, and has since started production on her line, launched an online store and established headquarters in downtown Los Angeles. Alicia grew up a tomboy playing in the bluegrass of Kentucky, went on to get her apparel design degree from Colorado State University and started her career in NYC designing mens knits. Along with her work for Original Tomboy, she is collaborating with faculty and postdocs at Caltech to create a line of clothing for the "modern geek," to showcase the world of science in a new and interesting way. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
