Noshkar! Ãr naam Andy. Ken aso? Hello! My name is Andy. How are you? Let's talk about the Chittagonian language. Chittagonian Language: The Chittagonian language is a unique Indo-Aryan language with tonal features, making it an exceptional case within its language family. It is primarily spoken in the Chittagong Division of Bangladesh, Rakhine state of Myanmar and in several northeastern Indian states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura. Though rooted in Indo-Aryan structure, it retains phonological and lexical influences from its historical links to Sino-Tibetan languages, especially through its sister languages such as Chakma, Assamese, Hajong, Syloti, Kamtapuri, Bishnupriya Manipuri and Tanchangya. Approximately Chittagonian has 15 million speakers, the language is now considered endangered due to increasing linguistic shift among younger generations toward Bengali and English. Chittagonian People and Culture: The Chittagonian people trace their ancestry to the Mogh tribe, part of the broader Mongoloid indigenous groups of Northeast India and Myanmar and have historically intermingled with Arab, Persian, and Central Asian migrants, especially following the Islamic introduction to the region. This has created a rich, mixed heritage visible in both physical features and cultural expressions. Traditionally, Chittagonian women are master weavers, while the men are known for bamboo crafts. The Chittagonian community celebrates a Biu Forob spring time agricultural festival marked by traditional red, white, and yellow garments and homage to Mogedeshori, the goddess of protection and prosperity. Although now predominantly Muslim, Hindu or Buddhist the Chittagonian people originally practiced an animistic faith centered on nature worship. This video is created for educational, language awareness, and language preservation purposes.
