Lowcountry Sidequest 🦐

A May 2021 road trip down to the Carolinas. We left early in the morning and by dusk were traveling through the Sandhills of North Carolina. We eventually reached South of the Border, then made our way through the Low Country to Scott’s Bar-B-Cue in Hemingway, SC. After our early lunch, we drove the rest of the way to our AirBNB in Summerville, SC. We spent the next couple days exploring the historic city of Charleston, eating lots of shrimp and grits, watching the sunset at Folly Beach, swimming at Sullivan’s Island, hiking through the Cypress Swamps at Magnolia Plantation, and exploring the Angel Oak Tree. On our way back we stopped for some more Carolina style barbecue at Parker’s in Wilson, NC. Lastly, we got stuck in nasty traffic around Fredericksburg, VA and I saw for myself exactly how bad the traffic on I-95 between Richmond and Washington can be.
