Coming up next, an interview with one of rock’s greatest storytellers… Randy Bachman. Randy has accomplished the rare feat of having a number-one hit with two different bands: the Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive. In fact, he got very sick and needed to take some time off and his first band moved on without him. So he eventually formed another BTO and ended up outselling them... but today’s classic song Let It Ride actually came when he was on tour with the Doobie Brothers. BTO was on the way to a gig when they got pinned in a traffic jam. A truck driver with his rig had boxed their tour bus in and they couldn’t move. So after a frustrating wait, this rock legend confronted the trucker at a rest stop.. It was about to get ugly as a fight was about to break out… Just when all hell was about to break loose this trucker said something in anger that inspired a rock classic. This is a Really funny story “So far on this channel, we’ve heard several great stories from Randy Bachman. For my money, Randy is one of the best song-tellers in the whole game. Over the last few months, he’s shared the story of turning an impersonation of his younger brother’s stutter into a #1 rock classic with You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet and then how a pizza guy played piano on a song that he never intended to release with Taking Care of Business which ended up becoming Elvis’s mantra. The whole reason Randy got into rock in the first place and then the story of writing These Eyes with Burton Cumming of the Guess Who. that one came while he was waiting for his date to get ready. Today is an equally entertaining story that came when he was touring with the Doobie Brothers as the instigator of the rock group Bachman Turner OverDrive or BTO… It was from a bout of road rage. He confronted a reckless trucker… He was looking for a fight but instead got a '70s rock classic. He’ll tell you the story up next. Also, the song was something he was strumming at the time. Then he said the Doobies were working on a song at the same time and turns out both bands used the chords but have no idea who came up with them. In case you didn’t catch it. the two songs that sounded similar were Long Train Running by the Doobies and Let it Ride By BTO. They were working on the songs at the same time and there was just something in the air. I’ll tell you doing the recent professor of rock live with Randy was a Riot. , ONE OF THE BEST storytellers in all of music. Make sure to Leave us a comment about this amazing song and about Randy Bachman and BTO. What are your favorite Randy compositions? With the Guess Who or BTO. The fact that he isn’t in the Hall of Fame is an absolute joke. If you dig our content make sure to subscribe so you never miss out on our content.
