This week, the Peptide PhDs kicked off the 4 Pillars of Health series with diet + nutrition — and why food affects way more than weight. It impacts energy, mood, sleep, and how well you age. Big takeaways: Your body is a chemistry set. What you eat changes how you feel and function. They covered a study showing both the Mediterranean and DASH styles of eating were linked to better sleep and mental health (in different ways), and your chronotype (early bird vs night owl) plays a role too. The macro debate got simplified: fat, carbs, and protein aren’t “bad” - quality and balance matter (and protein gets more important as we age). They explained glycation (sugar sticking to proteins) and how it can speed up aging and mess with protein function - one reason too much sugar + constant snacking can backfire. Color matters - real foods with natural pigments (plants) bring antioxidants that help protect cells and support long-term health. Vitamins/minerals are cofactors (they help your enzymes work). If you’re low, the body prioritizes survival today over aging well. They wrapped by tying it back to peptides: natural peptides are real peptides, and they’re meant to support the system - not replace the basics. Next week: Movement + exercise (Pillar 2).
